It's Volcano Day

The kids had been asking about volcanoes so we made a Volcano Day. We spent the morning going through our Usborne Geography book. We LOVE that it has internet links so we were able to read about volcanoes then play volcano games, watch videos, and look at the beauty and destruction they leave behind. So what's the best way to end Volcano Day? With a volcano of course!

Here is our first volcano. After thinking it through and reading some blog posts we decided to use a bottle instead. So, this is our finished volcano complete with mountain climbers.


I found some great websites that had some recipes to try. Site #1 is a website with a simple recipe. Our favorite one is this one, there are many recipes to try out and see what works best. I know that we will be having another Volcano Day in the future and this will be the site we use to write out our observations. But for our first time through the volcano lesson we went the simple route and just talked about it. We invited some friends up and had a blast!
